A woman had to seek medical attention after she was severely beaten by a man who tried to rob her of her BlackBerry.
The incident, which caused a chase in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Sunday, is still hot on the lips of persons on the streets of the Old Capital.
"Yes, we run down de bwoy but him fast like a real tief, we haffi just watch him move tru di street like a plane," Marva said to her friend.
"Is one of the strangest ting mi ever witness, mi ongle hear bout dem ting deh. Di man have a piece a board and slap di woman. Him seh mi nuh tell yu fi lef di BlackBerry a yard because dem wi tief it, dat time a him a di tief," a vendor said.
THE STAR was informed that on Sunday the female was standing along Wellington Street in Spanish Town when she was approached by a man who started to argue with her.
It is said that the man started to hit her with a piece of board, while telling her that she was careless to have left the yard with the phone.
The female was smart enough to have sounded an alarm, shouting 'tief tief' which caused persons nearby to run to her assistance, sending the brazen robber fleeing.
Checks at the Spanish Town Police station revealed that no formal report was made. However, they are aware of persons using various methods to rob persons of phones, chains and other valuables.
