Residents of Tivoli Gardens in West Kingston have received nearly $100 million as compensation for damage done to their houses during May's incursion by the security forces.

This was revealed on Thursday by Member of Parliament and Prime Minister Bruce Golding.

Mr. Golding told our news centre the owners of the houses that sustained the most damage were the main beneficiaries of the pay out.

We have completed those houses that we undertook, the ones that were severely damaged and all of the persons who have less than severe damage have been compensated at a cost of $94 million dollars, I believe, Mr. Golding said.

Several houses were damaged during intense gun battles involving the security forces and gunmen.

The police and army had gone into the community in search of then fugitive Christopher "Dudus" Coke.
