Raunchy female dancehall artiste Pamputae is busy building her career, one song at a time. After her hit single, Slim vs Fluffy with Spice last year, she is back again with As The Party Done, and Badmind, which she hopes will be favoured by the ears of her fans.
For her, the work is never over and nothing less than 100 per cent is enough to satisfy her efforts.
"Mi a do hard work, mi nah stop voice. A four, five song fi di week mi a voice. The sky is the limit at all times," said Pamputae.
Hard work is essential, she said, because the music industry has a large number of female artistes who are all trying to make a name for themselves.
no recognition
She is, however, undaunted by their presence as she said, "It hard fi a female get noticed because half a the time wi nuh get the recognition wi deserve. Wi haffi guh hard fi it. But everybody know seh Pamputae a bad artiste, mi nuh have nuh threat still. Everybody know seh when mi go stage show, mi work it an shell it dung. The competition is always on."
A few of her songs, while not doing so well on the Jamaican music scene, has been creating waves in other places such as St Lucia, Trinidad, Barbados and Europe.
"Mi do nuff songs a Jamaica and mi nuh hear dem a play out here, but when mi guh foreign dem a tear dung di place. Mi have a song weh mi did do fi Supa Hype, Me Put The Good Inna G, weh a gwaan bad a St Lucia and Trinidad. Dem all book mi fi carnival next year," said Pamputae.
"Mi a get bear call and Facebook message from Europe because Neighbourhood and Stress Free a mash up di place but yet still yuh nah hear dem a Jamaica. Next year, a Europe wi a go deh a bring it to di people them," she added.
Pamputae has upcoming performances at Jamfest to be held in Montego Bay on Christmas Day, Ragasahti's upcoming show, and others in Canada later this month.
