A man who has been charged with attempted murder after being accused of cutting his father's throat was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Jomo Dennis will return to court on December 9, when the matter will be mentioned as the medical report is outstanding.
Allegations are that on September 17, the complainant was at his workplace on Lady Musgrave Road, when the accused came on the compound and approached him with a machete and an argument developed.
The court heard that the accused hit the complainant in the head and then used the machete to cut his throat. The court also heard that residents from the area who heard the loud noise coming from the premises alerted the police after realising what was happening.
It was further heard that the accused was caught by security personnel trying to jump over a nearby wall. The complainant was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was admitted for emergency surgery.
The court heard that when the accused was arrested, he told the police, "Is a man come on the compound and a try fi cut mi father throat and a try to jump di wall."
