A male student of the Marcus Garvey Technical high School in St Ann's Bay is now in critical condition in hospital after he was stabbed during a fracas on the school compound this morning.
Two other male students have also been injured and are in serious condition. One was reportedly chopped on his leg.
The students were injured after a melee broke out and knives and machetes were brought into play. The incident happened minutes before 11:00 am.
The incident has caused a disruption of classes at the school and police are maintaining a presence to head off any further outbreak of violence.
The latest round of violence between students comes less than 24 hours after a student of the St Andrew College was stabbed and killed near the Transport Centre in Half-Way-Tree, St Andrew.
He has been identified as 16-year-old Shaquille Nelson, also called Top Notch, of Golden Spring in St Andrew.
Police say two men chased Nelson onto a Toyota Coaster bus and stabbed him several times in the chest. He died later in hospital.
