Bruno Mars has officially been charged with felony drug possession in connection with his arrest in Las Vegas, Nevada late last month.
The crooner was in the city on September 19th to perform at the Hard Rock Hotel. Following the concert, he was detained by the venues security after a bathroom attendant alerted them that a man was spending too much time in one of the stalls. Mars handed over the narcotics to the guards who in turn notified the police. He was released from jail the next morning on bond.
Mars is expected to return to court on November 18th to face the charges. If convicted, he faces up to four years in jail and a $5,000 fine. However according to Entertainment Weekly, law in Nevada orders that these kind of convictions result in a suspended sentence and probation for first-time offenders with no prior convictions.
Mars record label, Elektra Records, issued a statement, saying simply, We congratulate Bruno Mars on his chart topping success, and provide him with our full love and support.
The singers single Just The Way You Are has set atop the Billboard 100 chart for the last two weeks. His debut album, Doo Wops & Hooligans, will be released tomorrow (October 5). I LOVE TAKIN DRUGS, SO FREAKIN BADDDD
