The Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court enjoyed moments of amusement yesterday when two neighbours, a 45-year-old woman and the other, a 50-year-old woman, faced the court in a case and cross case.
The two women, Karen Henry and Sheila Ferguson, seemed unsure at first of what their respective pleas would be for the charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.
Such uncertainty was displayed when the clerk of courts asked both the accused alternatively, to identify the person who had assaulted her, both the co-accused then pointed at each other almost at the same time, which amused the court.
guilty plea
Ferguson then told the court that she wanted to plead guilty to avoid prolonging the matter. Likewise, Henry then immediately told the court that she wanted to enter a guilty plea also, which again amused the court.
Both women told the court that they received scratches to their bodies as a result of the fracas.
Both co-accused were fined $4,000 each or 30 days in prison.
No records were requested in the matter, in that, the convictions are not to be recorded.
