Schoolboy football season gets cracking Sept 11

MONTEGO BAY, St James All-island schoolboys' football champions St George's College and daCosta Cup winners St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) will open their 2010 season with games against St Jago High and Lacovia High on September 11 at Jarrett Park.

St George's College is set to play St Jago in the first game of the scheduled triple-header, while STETHS and Lacovia will meet in the feature.

In the second game, St James High and Spot Valley High will meet in a Zone A encounter.

The season is set to be launched on Wednesday at the Terra Nova Hotel in Kingston, starting at 10:00 am.

Meanwhile, two schools have withdrawn from the daCosta Cup competition, leaving 74 schools to contest the 12 zones.

It is understood that Belair High and Aabuthnott Gallimore High will not be taking part this season, but reasons for their withdrawal were not known
