An alleged attempt by a woman to smuggle ganja and a knife inside a jail cell to her son, has landed her in trouble with the law.
The woman, Adina Johnson, 58-year-old of Linstead, St Catherine, has been charged with possession of ganja and an offensive weapon.
She was granted bail when she appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's court yesterday.
Allegations are that on August 18, about 3:30 p.m., Johnson went to the Spanish Town police lock-up to look for her son.
The court was further informed that she presented a bag with items of food including a spice bun.
While the police checked the goods, the bun was opened.
It was then that a transparent plastic bag was found with ganja and a ratchet knife was found in the bun. Johnson was subsequently charged.
She pleaded not guilty when she appeared in court and was granted bail in the sum of $30,000.
