It was a mardi gras feel at Twisted Spiritz last Saturday night at the Palisadoes Go-Kart track at the event's 'Mask-A-Rade' edition.
Masks of purple, gold, green, silver and other colours were distributed at the entrance for the early comers, as men and women alike donned their masks to enjoy a fun vibe at the signature party series. Some patrons had their own elaborate masks that they brought with them: some with feathers and several patrons were dressed as a masked comic hero. The venue was nicely set up with a large area for dancing, a number of bars, a stage for the selectors and a VIP area behind the stage, which had a bar and food area.
To add to the 'mask-a-rade' effect, body-artists Eon and Robby painted masks on some persons and added colourful effects to persons who were masked.
When THE STAR entered the venue, Kingston All Stars had the place rocking with a slew of old Vybz Kartel songs. Persons were mainly sipping on the free alcohol and twisted mixes until later in the night when the real dancing began.
Renaissance Disco followed, playing a very early segment of new songs such as conscious hits We Remember from Laden and Cyaan Fren Again from Stephen McGregor, before going into a party segment with Holiday, Richie Loops' My CuppCome Into My Room, before the steady stream of patrons had entered the venue. ZJ Liquid stirred the venue with some alternative music such as Firefliesgetting up to speed with Clarks and ClarksAgain from Vybz Kartel. and before
In the VIP area, Elephant Man and Chino and the Big Ship crew were lyming and enjoying the vibe as Coppershot took over in the early morning with old-school dancing-songs from the 'Energy God', as well as 'bruk out' songs from Lady Saw which had the ladies wining. Hip hop songs such as Forever and Party Like A Rockstar maintained the high energy as patrons partied well after 4 a.m., taking home the masks as souvenirs from a great party.
