THE Peoples National Party (PNP) is questioning the motive of the prime minister in publicly telegraphing the decision to issue the authority to proceed with the extradition process for Christopher Dudus Coke.

In light of the panic that gripped the Corporate Area [yesterday], the prime ministers statement can only further incite the lawless elements and increase the risk of civil unrest, loss of life, and damage to property, the PNP said in a news release early this morning.

Once again, it demonstrates poor judgment and misguided leadership in placing the prime ministers personal political interest in front of the national interest and the safety of the Jamaican people. The country will hold the prime minister fully accountable for any loss of life or damage to property that may ensue from his reckless foreshadowing of the next step in this most sensitive matter affecting national security.

Meanwhile, the PNP Youth Organisation (PNPYO) has rejected Prime Minister Bruce Goldings apology to the nation.

The PNPYO believes that the statement of apology that was given by the prime minister is not enough atonement for the transgressions he has committed against the people, the group said in a news release

Politicians like the prime minister who have been caught in a blatant attempt to subvert justice must receive the full punishment. Indeed the swiftness with which the prime minister has instructed that the minister sign the authority to proceed with the extradition request in an attempt to save his own political career and access to power, proves that all his utterances about constitution, individual rights, insufficient evidence were all lies constructed to aid in his efforts to suspend justice.

The PNPYO said if the public does not force Golding to resign, then in the future politicians may believe that such actions can be repeated with not even as much as a slap on the wrist.

Mr Golding must be the first casualty of the citizens war against crime, murder and criminal elements. We are glad that Mr Golding has finally accepted that he is wrong, now it is only correct for him to accept the only just consequence for his attempted subversion of justice and by extension his blatant support of criminality. It remains our conviction therefore that Mr Golding must resign and we will be very disappointed in the PNP should they sit in parliament with this illegitimate government.
