Love is in the air for many dancehall artistes, whether it is with their significant other, family or friends. TheSTAR spoke with some entertainers to find out how they would be spending Valentine's Day on Sunday, February 14.
For Star of the Month, Demarco, and his wife of five months, Terry-Ann Edwards, they will be spending Valentine's at their wine bar, Chateaux Vino. The wine bar will be having a Valentine's couples special for $7,000, which the two plan to partake in.
A happy Demarco said, "This will be our first Valentine's as a married couple and life is just so great." The couple dated for two years before getting married. According to Demarco, his wife plays a very active role in his career.
cooking and chilling
For singer Raine Seville, who has been with her DASECA labelmate Bugle for the last six years, the two have vowed to stay away from the studio this Sunday and will be home, "cooking and chilling together," she said.
Dancehall diva D'Angel says she plans to spend Sunday with her two very special valentines, her son Marco Dean and her mother. She said, "I don't really have anything planned, but I plan on getting gifts for Marco and my mother, waking up with my son and spending time with them both."
Valentine's Day is one for lovers and is normally a private affair. But for public figures such as entertainers being in a relationship and keeping their lives private is not an easy feat, especially when dating another public figure. Artistes Tami Chynn and Wayne Marshall avoided the media fanfare to some extent last September when they were wed at the University Chapel. Reminiscent of a real Hollywood couple, the two dodged the media months prior to their nuptials.
Fellow artiste D' Angel knows all about being caught up in the public having gone through a very public relationship with deejay Beenie Man. According to D 'Angel, right now she is "single as it is" and not in a present relationship. In the future she too would prefer to keep any relationships as private as possible.
"With my marriage, we were both public figures, so there was no avoiding it, but personally I would like to be able to have as much control over my privacy as possible," she said.
Seville, too, can attest to the challenges of having a public relationship. She told The STAR, "It can be challenging because people tend to speculate, try to get in our way and assume things about us that aren't factual. Sometimes it would be like we aren't considered 'normal' people like everyone else, because everything that happens with us is a 'big' deal. But we try to be as private as possible."

For DeMarco and his wife, he finds that she copes with being with an entertainer very well. He explained, "She understands the artiste thing and is heavily involved in everything that I do. She's the one who's chan-ging my clothes and mekking me look more like a somebody. She's there all the way on video shoots doing the clothes for it 'cause she owns her own store. She plays a big role in my life."
