Parents still not indicted in child's death

Up to late yesterday the Cave Valley police were yet to charge a woman and her spouse in connection with the death of the woman's two-year-old son.

The boy, Kimani Bryan, of Davis Town, Cave Valley, St Ann, died in the Percy Junor hospital in Spaldings, where he was taken for treatment after allegedly being beaten by his stepfather.

The police report that some time between 11 a.m. on Monday and 2 p.m. Tuesday, the boy was beaten by the stepfather. He was later taken by the stepfather and mother to the hospital for treatment.

It is further reported that caregivers at the hospital noticed several bruises on the boy and notified the police. The youngster subsequently died.

By the time the police arrived both mother and stepfather had left the hospital. They were later arrested by the police at separate locations in Clarendon.

Bryan was the second youngster from St Ann to die on Tuesday.

Over in Jack Lodge district in Farm Town, the body of five-year-old Erica Brown was discovered in a water tank after she went missing the previous day. Investigations are continuing in both cases.
