A man who yesterday attempted to rob a BlackBerry smartphone from a female motorist stuck in traffic on West Kings House Road, St Andrew, met a bitter end after the woman is alleged to have later hit him from his bicycle.

The St Andrew Central police said the man rode up to the woman, slapped her across the face and grabbed her BlackBerry. The man rode off but was later hit from his bicycle. He subsequently died.

Unofficial reports said the woman retrieved her cellphone from the crook after he was hit, but police could not confirm this.

Superintendent Derrick 'Cowboy' Knight, said the woman is in custody at the Half-Way Tree Police Station.

Up to late last night, she had not been charged.
