Popular Bass Odyssey selector Kevin 'Squingy' Bennett is clinging to life this evening as one876 has learned that the selector, who is said to be in the Intensive Care Unit of a Tampa Bay hospital, is rapidly deteriorating.
Keith Walford, owner of Bass Odyssey, told one876 that Squingy's friend in Tampa, Florida had informed him that "Squingy's organs are collapsing and he might not make it". However, there was no way of corroborating the report.
"Because of the Squingy's condition, I didn't even tackle his friend Kirk about the lack of communication with his family regarding Squingy. But when Squingy left (Jamaica) on November 5th, we were not aware of anything of that magnitude. Up to Wednesday night, I had tried calling him several times on a number he gave us, it is an office number for Courtesy Music Station but no one could get through on the phone until I spoke to Kirky C late on Thursday (November 19th) night," Keith said.
Walford's major bone of contention is the manner in which Squingy's illness was handled.
"Why hasn't Squingy called to talk to his next of kin? His brother and cousin called and asking me several times for his number. Why is this person calling the newspaper first before even trying to contact his next of kin? Somebody should have been notified at least," he said.
