BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. --
A man who was recently released from the Brevard County Jail is in critical condition Tuesday morning after he tried to break his way back behind bars.

Investigators say Sylvester Jiles suffered deep cuts after he got tangled in the razor wire around the jail Monday night.

Jiles had only been out of jail since last Friday. He made a plea deal in the shooting death of a Rockledge man and was released on eight years probation.

Jiles told investigators he was trying to get back into jail because the victim's family threatened his life.
