Reports outstanding in murder case

Three post-mortem reports and two witness statements remain outstanding in the case against 27-year-old David Thellwell, who is facing multiple murder charges in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.

refuse to give statements

On Tuesday, when the matter was mentioned before Resident Magistrate Vivienne Harris, the court was informed that two police officers now on interdiction for an unrelated matter had refused to give statements as to the whereabouts of the accused on the morning of March 3, when four persons were shot and killed at a bar-opening in Glendevon, St James.

Thellwell, who hails from Glendevon, was, however, identified as one of four men who attacked and fatally shot 34-year-old disc jockey Peter 'Funo' Williams; 19-year-old labourer Oniel 'Moses' Black; Adrian 'Condom' Winter and a mentally-ill man known only as 'Kevon'. The court was also informed that the outstanding post-mortems would be available to the investigating team within the week.

Thellwell, who has another case of murder before the St James Circuit Court, has insisted that he has an alibi, which includes members of the police force, for the morning in question. RM Harris had ordered the investigating officers to verify the alibi. However, Thellwell's story is yet to be confirmed. He will remain in custody until June 16 when the case will again be mentioned.

Allegations are that on March 3, Thellwell and three men armed with guns showed up at a bar-opening in the community at 1:25 a.m. and sprayed bullets on the patrons. Witnesses say that Thellwell told his cronies, "Mek sure unno gi dem pure head lick 'cause mi nuh come yah fi kill no woman tonight." The armed men allegedly fled after carrying out their attack.
