A policeman has found himself in big trouble with the law only two months before he is to retire from the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
Special Sergeant Hurbert Richards, 58, the subofficer in charge of the Darling Street Police Station, was nabbed last Friday during a sting operation conducted by members of the anti-corruption branch.
Richards appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Mag-istrate's Court yesterday to answer to corruption charges and was offered $150,000 bail. He is to be tried on July 27.
Allegations are that money was collected for a vehicle which was seized.
Reports are that on the day in question, members of the Anti-Corruption Branch received reports that the officer had collected money and agreed to release the vehicle. He was subsequently held during a sting operation.
