Bojan Krkic was hailed as one of the many young rising young stars at Barcelona last season, but the 18-year-old has struggled to make his mark under Pep Guardiola.
Forced to compete against the likes of Lionel Messi, Samuel Etoo and Thierry Henry, the forward has seen little playing time so far this season. His first team chances have been largely restricted to Copa del Rey matches and substitute appearances in the league.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, the teenager was given a chance to exit the Camp Nou during the winter transfer window in order to seek regular football elsewhere, but he adamantly turned down a number of offers from abroad.
Ajax Amsterdam were one of those clubs interested in his services as the Dutch side had been looking for a replacement to cover Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who had left for Real Madrid.
Bundesligas Cinderella side, Hoffenheim, had also declared their interest in Bojan after the newly-promoted outfit were hit by the news that leading scorer Vedad Ibisevic would be ruled out for the remainder of the season.
And it was a similar case with French side Olympique de Marseille, who deemed that the Spaniard with Serbian heritage would be an ideal deputy for Mamadou Niang, who is only just returning now after breaking a bone in his foot.
But the Blaugrana No. 11, who has a contract with the Catalan giants until 2013, rejected all three approaches in favour of staying, training and playing with Barcas star-studded squad.
Despite his limited playing minutes, he has recorded an impressive tally of goals. In seven Copa del Rey games he has netted four times. Meanwhile, he has amassed three goals in six Champions League matches. He has yet to score in La Liga, however, after 13 appearances.
