Michael Ballack wants everyone of his Germany teammates to play as if World Cup qualification was on the line on Wednesday even though their clash with Norway is essentially just a glorified practice match.
"We have done lots of preparation work as we want to qualify for South Africa," Ballack told local reporters ahead of the test match in Dusseldorf.
"So far we have achieved nothing. Therefore the meeting with Norway is particularly important as there is no major tournament in the diary for this year," he stressed.
"So every player must focus on the friendly games and give 100 per cent."
In comparison to the previous friendly international with England back in November, Joachim Loew has Torsten Frings, Philipp Lahm and Ballack back in the squad.
