When the third round groups of North, Central America and Caribbean qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa were announced, the general feeling was that Group 2, featuring four teams who had qualified for the big event in the past, would be the most intriguing. And so it has proved.

The question is, with the final matchday approaching: which two teams will advance from the section?

Mexico got off to a flying start, but have been pegged back by some surprise setbacks on the road: a 1-0 loss to Jamaica in Kingston, followed by a 2-2 draw with Canada in wintry conditions in Edmonton. They are not yet assured of progression, but it will take an improbable c****ination of results for them to be eliminated.

The real struggle is for the second qualifying berth. After a slow start, Jamaica have fought their way back to seven points, and who would bet against them at 'The Office' in Kingston in their final match against eliminated Canada?

Standing in their way are Honduras, two points ahead of the Jamaicans going into the final day. A draw at home to Mexico would probably be enough for Los Catrachos, given their +3 goal difference. But who can ever count on a result against El Tri?
