A 15-MONTH-OLD baby was killed when a four-wheel drive car mounted the kerb and hit his pushchair. Finlay Woods was with his mother and grandmother when a black Toyota careered off the road in Chingford, east London, at about 3.20pm yesterday.
The youngster, who lived a short distance away, was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital by ambulance but died soon after arrival.
Firefighters said they were called to reports of a child trapped under a car but bystanders freed him before they arrived.
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said the 39-year-old woman driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and remained in custody.
She said the woman was being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
An inquest is expected to open and adjourn later today.
