Anger management was definitely lacking in the case of a Pink Lane, Kingston woman who was arraigned in court this week for throwing boiling water her eight year old childs face.
Remanded in custody after appearing before the Half-Way-Tree Criminal Court yesterday, the woman, Ann Marie Scott, 28, faces assault and wounding charges.
Scott allegedly got extremely irate upon discovering that her eight year old daughter had misplaced a ring that was a gift from her father. Police reported that the incident took place on July 29 and following an investigation by detectives of the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, she was officially charged.
Dumbfounded when asked to explain her actions by senior Magistrate Glen Brown, Scotts actions against her child were outlined by family members who helplessly witnessed the vicious attack.
Reports given by them to police describe how Scott first started beating her eight year old with a mop stick, threatening all the time to burn the child. Despite the familys attempts to stop the assault, Scott followed through with her threats by boiling water in the microwave and throwing it on her childs face, shoulders and legs.
The child was released into her fathers custody after spending almost two weeks in the Bustamante Hospital for children, where she was treated for severe burns.
