ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A man and woman were arrested Wednesday evening after St. Augustine police said shots were fired during a road rage incident. According to a police report, a man and his young daughter were the victims of an aggravated assault after the passenger in another vehicle fired several rounds from a 9mm pistol at them while they were driving. The victim told police that a woman driving a beige, 4-door Nissan Altima pulled next to him on Avenida Menendez near the Castillo de San Marco and that the passenger in the car pointed a handgun at the him and his daughter. The victim said that he called the police on his cell phone and followed the Nissan through downtown St. Augustine.
He said suspect allegedly waived the gun at the victims a second time and eventually made a U-turn on N. Ponce de Leon Boulevard near Cincinnati Street. The victim and witnesses told police that the man with the gun reached across the drivers side of the car, pointed the gun and fired three shots in the direction of the victims vehicle. Officers later spotted the Nissan driving through a parking lot and followed the vehicle to the vicinity of the railroad tracks north of Leonardi Street. Police contacted and arrested the woman driver, 22-year-old Kristin Mae Hundley, and charged her with principle to aggravated assault. The suspected gunman, later identified as 28-year-old Nathan James Keyes, fled from the Nissan but was apprehended in near Leonardi Street. According to the St. Augustine Police Department, Keyes told police where to find the Glock17, 9mm handgun used in the assault and a consensual search of the Nissan revealed 9mm ammunition, four 9mm shell casings, two marijuana pipes, and a small amount of marijuana. No one was injured in the incident. Both Keyes and Hundley were taken to the county jail without incident. On Thursday morning, the pair made their first appearances before a judge. Hundley's bond was set at $250,000. Keyes' was set at $325,000.
