Family Seeks Emergency Shelter After Thugs Shoot Up Their House Wednesday July 16, 2008 CityNews.ca Staff
A west-end family is living in terror after at least seven bullets were pumped through the front of their house.
The shooting happened just before 11pm on Tuesday night on Denison Avenue, in the Bathurst and Dundas area. Police say four small children and two adults were inside the home when the bullets went through the door and whizzed through the living room. Luckily, no one was hurt.
Two suspects were seen fleeing the scene, but police are still on the hunt for the suspects.
In the meantime, the family understandably wants out of the neighbourhood.
"I was standing right behind the door but the bullet ricocheted and went to the stairs. It bounced off and went the opposite way," said a male adult who was inside his girlfriend's house at the time.
The family thinks the brazen act was meant to send them a clear message after they recently moved in from a rival neighbourhood.
The mother of the four children is currently seeking emergency shelter, but claims she isn't getting cooperation and may have to stay in the home for at least another week.
