A man and his girlfriend, accused of beating the man's mother, are to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on July 21 for sentencing.
Ernell Webb and his girlfriend, Fay Marshall, are both accused of assaulting Webb's elderly mother, Margaret Webb. When both appeared last Wednesday, they paid the elderly woman $2,000 for her medical expenses.
However, the woman told presiding Resident Magistrate Glen Brown that she would be returning to the doctor for another test and so RM Brown set another mention date.
Webb is accused of pulling his mother from her bed on to the floor, while Marshall is accused of beating the complainant in the head while she was on the floor, causing her to be hospitalised for one night.
The court was previously told that Marshall and the complainant had been feuding since Marshall accused her of 'setting obeah' on her and placing her panty in a grave. The complainant, on the other hand, accused Marshall of the same. The court heard that one of the complainant's panties had gone missing and has still not been recovered. Marshall said she further visited the doctor on several occasions and still had not been diagnosed.
She said she went to a "Zion church" to find out what her ailment was and claimed, "They tell me dat all my problems coming from where I live."
Webb and Marshall's bail was extended until the next mention date.
