The entertainment at the Riverside Side Drive-in go-go club in Damhead, St Catherine, came to an abrupt end on Saturday night when gunmen shot and killed two persons there and injured a third.
The dead have been identified as Shawn Henry, also known as 'Sleepy', 18 years old of Innswood Village; and 28-year-old Owen Watson, a truck driver of Stratmore Gardens, both in St Catherine. A female employee was also shot and injured.
The Star learnt that about 10:30 p.m., Henry, who is employed as a gate man at the club, was on duty when two men with whom he reportedly had an argument walked up, drew handguns from their waistbands and fired shots hitting him and Watson, killing them on the spot.
The female supervisor who was standing nearby also received gunshot wounds.
This sent several persons running for cover, while the men reportedly walked away from the venue. The St Catherine North homicide team, which is investigating, says reprisal is the motive for the double murder.
The killing occurred on the same day that THE STAR carried a story about cops warning go-go club owners. It also followed a killing at the Silver Spoon go-go club in May Pen, Clarendon, earlier this month in which a female exotic dancer was stabbed to death and her colleague being charged with murder.
The double murder brings to 105, the number of persons murdered in St Catherine North since the start of the year.
