Dancehall Artiste David Brooks better known as Mavado has had charges against him withdrawn. Mavado was freed of the charges of illegal possession of firearm and shooting with intent. He was charged jointly with Sameer Co****s. The Director of Public Prosecution DPP made an order that the proceeding should not continue after the Police told the court this week that the witnesses had migrated. The charges stem from an incident on July 27 last year on Mannings Hill Road in Saint Andrew when two people were shot and wounded. Because of his arrest Mavado was recently denied entry to the United States and was also considered a security threat by Guyanese Government. Despite all these controversies, the deejay among other great accomplishments has been chosen as the new spokesman for the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) in light of the hurricane season. Mavados duty is to raise awareness and encourage citizens to keep their communities, drains and gullies clean and free of garbage and other debris.
