More than 200 gallons of diesel fuel were stolen from an area school district Friday morning.
McLennan County Sheriffs investigators said they believe someone cut the locks on a Hallsburg Independent School District gate between 12:30 and 8 a.m. Friday and stole 232 gallons of diesel fuel from an above-ground gas tank, Sheriffs Lt. Clay Perry said.
The theft happened at a maintenance yard at 2313 Hallsburg Road, Clay said.
Perry said he had no reason to believe the theft was related to two diesel thefts earlier this year. In January, thieves siphoned about 100 gallons of diesel fuel from work trucks in the 4700 block of Orchard Lane, Perry said.
Another 200 gallons of diesel were stolen from work trucks at a business in the 1500 block of East Tinsley Road in Robinson.
Perry said investigators have leads in Fridays theft. No arrests have been made.
