Wednesday, 12 March 2008 A teacher of the Jonathan Grant High School in St. Catherine was on Wednesday afternoon taken into police custody after he allegedly got a group of male students beaten up by thugs.
At the heart of the attack was the alleged theft of his cellular phone.
The incident occurred shortly after 2 o'clock outside the gates of the school.
RJR News understands that the teacher reportedly lost his phone on Monday while at a class.
On Wednesday afternoon things took a turn for the worse when he reportedly sought the assistance of some "friends" from the neighbouring community of De la Vega City.
The group of men attacked six boys severely injuring them.
Police from the nearby Spanish Town police station had to intervene to stop the attack.
The boys sustained severe bruises and had to seek medical attention.
It is understood that they have since been released and are giving statements to the police.
