Early this morning the offices of 876radio.com was b****arded with phone calls about a rumour being circulated via the internet that a potential war is brewing again between Empire's front man Vybz Kartel and the Alliance Gully god Mavado.
It seems the basis of the rumour stems from recent tracks recorded by both parties on Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor's new rhythm called "Day Break". Kartel who was the first to record did a track titled "Tighest Punany", complementing the ladies on their GOD given asset/talent. Mavado then voiced a tracked titled "Nuh Bleach Wid Cream", which appears to be taking a swipe at Kartel whom many had accused of bleaching his skin, due to his lighter appearance earlier last year. These accusation Kartel said were without substance and was just a case of misguided people trying to smear his career.
Here are the lines from Mavado's song that seems to be causing all the commotion, "Before the rifle sound, bwoy run out a town, before the rifle sound dem cyaah be found... Shotta nuh bleach wid cream..., we bleach wid we M16.... wid extra magazine, mi alone create the crime scene"
Since the release of Mavado's song Kartel has voiced another track titled "Broad Daylight" which many are alleging his a direct response to Mavado song. Here are a few lines,
"Mi reach 33 Degrees of Masonry heights of Evil, 3 o'clock inna di morning when dem a walk up and down wid dem tall ting we have dem woman pon wi c*ckyhead bawling mi nuh look fi bwoy a night, mi murder people inna broad day light 6 panse mi walk wid cause the AK light, a wha duh some bwoy weh inna play play fight"
Now from all indication the tracks may appear as though they are counteracting each other but on the reality front there is no friction between the two as just last week Wednesday the two were seen conversing in a very jovial manner this was confirmed by Empire's wingman Jeffrey Hype, "Mi nuh know bout nuh war between dem, a just Wednesday gone him (Mavado) and the deejay (Vybz Kartel), mi see a reason an a hold a medz, so how war drop inna dat... some man fi just easy and stop spread rumours"
So with that said if there is really anything happening it's nothing more than a little friendly rivalry on wax between two former enemies turn friends and that is the way it should be.
