Most people out there listen and try to do what the artists are singing. I remember when the song "tuck een u belly" come out and all of a sudden, everybody start "tuck een". But even though the artists sing about these things (example tuck een), they still have their girlfriends with big tummies.  Overall, to them, its just what roll off their tongue at the time, whether true or false to their personal life. They say things to make money (right or wrong) and people just end up believing that its a testimony to their lifes.
