A police constable was arrested yesterday after he was reportedly held with an illegal gun.
Police said the constable who is stationed at the Area One Narcotics Division, but worked at the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Anti-Corruption Branch, is facing a charge of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Police said his name is being withheld pending further investigations. The incident reportedly occurred in Bunkers Hill in Wakefield, Trelawny.

Reports reaching THE WEEKEND STAR from the Wakefield police are that about 3 a.m. residents heard explosions coming from a bar in the area and summoned the police. Lawmen who responded, searched the constable who was in the bar and found the weapon along with 12 rounds of ammunition in his waist band.
After the completion of investigations, a case file will be prepared and submitted to the director of public prosecutions for a ruling.
