After days of wondering, USA Today has finally reported her secret: Oprah has a half sister who was given up for adoption shortly after her birth.
Her half sister came as a complete surprise to Oprah; she had no idea that Patricia existed. She was living with her father at the time that her mother, Vernita Lee, made the decision to give up her daughter and Oprahs half sister for adoption.
It literally shook me to my core, she said of the news about her long lost sister.
Her sister, Patricia, who now lives in Milwaukee, grew up in foster homes until she was 7 and was a mother by age 17. She now has two grown children.
