Vistaprint Jamaica will build its $2-billion call-centre by year-end to support the doubling of its workforce to 800 by 2015.
The investment will likely propel the local operation to higher prominence as a large employer within the island. The new call-centre facility slated for Montego Bay will be 92,000 square feet located on 11 acres of land purchased by the group.
"Construction is expected to start in December or January and is to be finished within one year," Roger Williams the local managing director told the Business Observer yesterday. "We expect to increase the workforce to 800 over the next three to five years."
Currently located in the Montego Bay freezone, it has been receiving increased customer calls based on the growth the parent company whose revenues have jumped by 51 percent in 2008 to 36 per cent in 2009 to 28 per cent in 2010. Vistaprint which is listed on the US Nasdaq exchange offers printed marketing materials, promotional products and marketing services such as copywriting, design, websites and postcard mailing.
"Based on the growth of the business over the last seven years and the ability of the operation to deliver quality service required by Vistaprint it was seen as prudent to invest in our own building," he said about the investment.
