A Corporate Area restaurant owner who thought she was getting good business was bitterly disappointed when she found out that after preparing $100,000 worth of boxed lunches for a man in a day, it was merely a labour in vain.

It is alleged that on October 8, a man from Duke Street, Kingston, went to the restaurant and ordered $100,000 worth of boxed lunches and juices.

It is also alleged that the ambitious man did not only make a plain order for lunches and juices, but that he was peculiar and meticulous about his orders.

A source told THE STAR that: "The man ordered some fish lunches and he told the woman he wants fish, and not just any type of fish ... he didn't want sliced fish but whole fish and that he wanted snapper and not pond fish or what most people call fresh-water fish."

It is further alleged that the woman laboured from the day straight through the night in an effort to complete the order. "He told the woman that he wanted cranberry, natural juices, instead of box drinks," the source said.

After the woman completed the order it was alleged that the man tendered a $100,000 cheque to the woman. However, when she went to the bank it was revealed that the cheque was fake.

The man was later apprehended after he reportedly chartered a cab whose driver the complainant knew. It is alleged the taxi operator after learning of the incident later carried the police to the address where he had dropped off the man. The woman confirmed the man at the address was the alleged 'con man'.
