Warrant out for alleged toothbrush thief

A warrant was issued for a man who is accused of breaking into a home in Havendale and stealing several items including a toothbrush and a bath soap.

When the matter was mentioned in court recently, the accused was not present and Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey issued a warrant for his arrest.

The allegations are that on June 22, the complainant was at home lying in bed when she noticed movements by her window and saw the window being opened. It is alleged that she got up and looked and saw someone trying to enter a bedroom window. The complainant, who is a high school student, called her mother and then proceeded to get her neighbour's attention.

The neighbour spotted the robber and made an alarm. It is alleged that the robber fled with gold jewellery, a bath and body set, make-up, books, bath soap and a toothbrush. The police were called and the accused was reportedly held shortly after.

The complainant was advised that she would be notified when the police catch up with the accused.
