A 36-year-old man who allegedly grabbed a teenager, placed her in his car and subsequently raped her was granted $200,000 bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

When the case was mentioned on Tuesday before RM Marcia Dunbar-Green, his lawyer told the court that the accused was not a flight risk. She said when her client heard he was being sought, he willingly turned himself over to the police.

The man who resides in north St Catherine was told to stay away from the complainant.

Allegations before the court are that on June 17, about 7 p.m., the 15-year-old complainant was walking in the community.

The accused drove up his car dragged her inside, drove her to a lonely spot where he proceeded to sexually assault her.

A report was made to the Brown's Hall police and an investigation resulted in charges of abduction and rape being brought against him.

He is to return to court on September 7, when the case will again be mentioned.
