State of emergency will not affect daily movement - police say

The Police High Command is advising members of the public that despite the limited state of emergency imposed on the parishes of Kingston, St Andrew and St Catherine, they are being encouraged to go about their normal business.

In a release, the police stated that wherever and whenever the police see it fit to restrict the movements of citizens in any particular area within the boundaries of the state of emergency, the public will be informed prior to this imposition or as soon as practicable thereafter.

Citizens who have made plans for outdoor events are being advised to contact their local police commander to ascertain whether or not these events will be allowed to go ahead.

Licensed firearm holders are allowed to carry their firearms within the areas of the state of emergency, but must travel with their appropriate firearm licence and another form of photo identification and should be prepared to declare them if required to do so by the police.
