The promoters of the annual Sting stage show were successfully sued by a police corporal who suffered injuries during the 2003 staging of the event.

Judgment was handed down by Resident Magistrate Simone Maddix in the Spanish Town Civil Court for $230,000 against Supreme Promotions, the promoter of the event.

The suit brought against Isaiah Laing and Supreme Promotions came from Corporal Debby Rhoden of the St Catherine South Police Division.

Rhoden, represented by attorney-at-law Sean Kinghorn, claimed that about 3:30 a.m. during the 2003 staging of the annual event, she was on duty in the stage area of the venue.

A fracas broke out between Desmond 'Ninja Man' Ballentine and Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer. Bottles and other missiles were thrown during which she was hit.

Having suffered injuries to her hand, back and neck, she was helped to the first-aid area by police personnel and patrons.

She was subsequently taken to the Spanish Town Hospital and the private practice of Dr Marc Whyte at Tangerine Place, who treated her over a period of time for the injuries received.

The suit was subsequently filed for pain and suffering by the plaintiff, who was seeking $250,000 in damages.
