The police were recently called to a home in Whitehouse, St Catherine, by residents who reported seeing a 24-year-old man hitting his 68-year-old 'girlfriend'.
When THE STAR contacted the Ewarton Police Station last night, a policeman said last Wednesday, a police team responded to a call that a man was beating up his girlfriend, who could be heard calling out for help. The police said that the team would be surprised at what they saw.
"When the team got there they realised it was an old woman who said her boyfriend had just punched her in the face and accused her of having an affair with another man," he said.
He further added that the woman told the police that her boyfriend was 24 years old, and they had been together for over four years.
The woman, who reportedly came out of her house in a short tights and a merino, had a swelling on her forehead and pointed to it as evidence of the punch she had received just minutes before.
THE STAR was further told that the woman begged the police not to take her lover into custody or charge him as he was all she had.
"She literally begged not to arrest him and claimed she had nobody else to take care of her," he said.
Meanwhile, the corporal said they are in search of the 24-year-old man who has not been seen since the incident. Residents told the police that he beats the woman regularly.
The woman was also urged to tell him to visit the police, once he returns.
