A man on Tuesday pleaded guilty to using a pickaxe stick to beat his former girlfriend on her private parts and legs.
When the case came up in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court, the man pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm.
Investigating Officer, Petrice Desgouttes of the Spanish Town police told the court that on January 25, the accused attacked and beat the complainant after she went to visit a relative.
Laughter erupted when the judge asked the complainant to explain what happened.
"Your honour, I went to visit his niece and he asked what I was doing there. If I was working, I told him 'no' and he called me a liar and that I am wicked. He then started to throw me on the wall and beat me wid the piece of wood," the complainant said, while showing the ugly marks on her legs.
She further explained that while being flogged with the stick, she was hit on her private parts.
The visibly shaken woman told the court that the accused man even made attempts to continue to assault her private area. "He kept jamming at my lower area (pointing to her groin) until someone came and held him, " she said.
Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green told the accused that he was wrong and that his behaviour might have been the reason why the relationship did not last long.
A social enquiry report was ordered by the court and the accused man is to report to the Spanish Town Police Station on Fridays. He is to return for sentencing on April 6.
