STAR of the Month, Demarco, said there has been much focus on Island Pop, and that is the genre of music he is concentrating on.

"Island Pop, that's the new genre of music. Sean Kingston and Iyaz a do it. Right now, dem a open di doors, so mi waan be a part of it," he said, while noting that he has always been doing that genre of music.

He said the Island Pop nature of his Show It single with Craig from Voicemail is one the things that attracted Koch Records. He explains that he enjoys doing it.

"Island Pop is like R&B with reggae on a pop beat. It's not on a reggae beat. With dancehall in America, they don't really want to buy it, so we just fuse it and people love it. Island Pop is the new thing. Even Chris Brown do it and he is not even from Jamaica," Demarco told THE STAR.
