A quantity of ammunition was reportedly seized at "Big Yard", off Mannings Hill Road in St Andrew by the Constant Spring police yesterday.
Popular deejay Vybz Kartel is known to make reference to the community in a number of his songs.
Deputy Superintendent Altermoth 'Parro' Campbell, crime chief for the St Andrew North police, told THE STAR, however, that Kartel was not present at the time of the seizure.
According to police reports, about 4:40 a.m., police on patrol in the area saw a group of men exiting the premises.
Their actions reportedly aroused the suspicions of the lawmen.
The police tried to accost the men but they ran, leaving behind a bag containing two M-16 magazines, each loaded with thirty 5.56 cartridges.
The police are continuing their investigations but say the identity of the men who fled the scene are not known.
The premises was also raided earlier this week and a number of men were taken into custody. They were, however, subsequently released.
DSP Campbell said the seizure was a result of the continued presence of the police throughout the area.
"Our intense presence in the area led to this seizure ... . We have been maintaining both mobile and foot patrols and we will continue to do so," DSP Campbell promised.
