As we previously reported, after being one of the first and biggest supporters of relief for the people of Haiti, Wyclef Jean and his Yele Haiti Foundation is now being called into question over it's operations. Despite reports that Wyclef has already racked up over $1 million dollars in donations, thesmokinggun.com is reporting that Wyclef, and his business partner, have been paid over $400,000 in rent, production services and appearance fees from the organization since its creation 12 years ago plus they say last year was the first time that Yele had filed tax returns with the IRS and they only disclosed information about the years, 2005, 2006 and 2009.
Now Wyclef Jean has come forward to talk about the accusations that he and his charity are facing, to the best of his capability that is. In addition, a rep for Wyclef's Yele Haiti foundation said that everything reported on the income tax reports was completely legal. You judge for yourself.
