WANTED 'RASTA' HELD AFTER HAIRCUT

The police yesterday nabbed 'Bobby', the machete-wielding character who was caught on camera attacking a taxi man just metres away from the Papine Police Station in St Andrew on Tuesday.

Charged with felonious wounding is Barrington Robert Aldridge, 29, otherwise called 'Bobby' of Nannyville Gardens and Tavern Avenue in Kingston.

THE STAR learnt Bobby was held, minus the locks, yesterday afternoon in the Highlight View area of St Andrew also known as Mud Town. He was reportedly held about 3 p.m. during an operation.

"Yes man, him cut off his locks, but he was held thanks to police intelligence and a planned operation," an officer at the Papine Police Station said when contacted yesterday.

He is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court next Tuesday.

Meanwhile, his victim remains hospitalised in stable condition.

Shortly after the clip was shown on national television, rumours began to circulate as to what could have sparked such a barbaric act.

The police say they could not confirm the rumours, but say Aldridge is to be further interviewed after which an update would be provided.

The Constabulary Communication Network had earlier reported that about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, Aldridge and the victim had an altercation, during which a machete was used to chop the man several times.
