Couple charged for illegal gun, ammo

Mark Williams, 33, the man charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition following a big gun find at Newton district, Lacovia St Elizabeth last month, was remanded in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court last week.

His girlfriend shopkeeper Patricia Pinnock, 21, who was charged jointly, was offered $300,000 bail with one or two sureties. As a condition of her bail she was told to report to the Lacovia police every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and stop orders were placed at all ports of entry and exit.

The two were taken into custody along with another man by the St Elizabeth police following the seizure of six illegal firearms from their two apartment house on May 31. The other man was released.

The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) liaison officer for the parish Karole Panton reported that about 4:30 a.m. the police, acting on information carried out an operation at Newton district.

Armed with a warrant the police went to the unfinished concrete house, which was occupied by the female and two males, and following a search, six firearms, five 9mm pistols and a .38 revolver with three live rounds, were found.

The court was told that the brand new Smith and Weston weapons were found in different sections of the house. Three were found in a box, two in a drawer and the other in the closet.

They are booked to return to the Santa Cruz RM Court on July 13, 2009.
