Police have arrested a man believed to be the mastermind behind several robberies in Greater Portmore, St Catherine.
The man, whose name is being withheld pending further investigations, was charged with larceny after a quantity of jewellery, liquor and appliances which he could not account for, was taken from his home.
''We believe that this man is a major player in the criminal network which goes around pretending to be a worker, and break into houses. That is what the investigations have revealed so far,'' Detective Corporal Dennis Grant told THE STAR.

When THE STAR visited the Portmore Police Station, among the items seen were watches, bracelets, earrings, colognes, digital cameras, television sets, tins of mackerel and a baby nipple bottle.
According to the police, the items which are estimated to be valued at $650,000 are suspected to have been stolen from a number of residences in Monza and other sections of Portmore.
Sleuths at the Portmore Police Station told THE STAR that the man was held after he went into the Monza area, May 18, wearing a reflective vest and approached residents purporting to be a meter reader. The vigilant residents held him and called the police,who took him into their custody
