Reports about the case in which an entertainer was convicted last week of playing loud music and fined is being discussed regularly in a particular community in the Corporate Area.
According to a resident, she overheard some of the chief players of loud music in her community discussing the case and they have all stopped playing loud music.
"I heard them saying they have to be very careful now because they could be arrested and charged for playing loud music," the resident said.

The resident said she heard some of them saying they did not know the police were so serious and, therefore, they have to turn down the music.
"I was very happy to hear the discussions between them because some of them were in the habit of playing their music from early morning until late at night. I am happy to know the police are taking action to curtail loud music and they should be commended for so doing.
"Loud music is very disturbing and annoying. It disrupts your sleep and some people play their music so loud that other residents cannot enjoy the comfort of their homes, because it does not make sense turning on your television set or radio, because the loud music drowns out the sound.
"Now that I know that persons can be taken to court for playing loud music, I will make sure to call the police next time I am being disturbed by loud music," the resident said.
The Noise Abatement Act was passed for the benefit of everyone although there are some people who think they should disobey the law. It is the duty of the police to enforce the law and citizens should call the police to assist them when they are being disturbed by loud music. A person who breaches the law can be fined or imprisoned.
