The Director of Public Prosecutions yesterday ruled that charges of outrageous public indecency be brought against a policeman who reportedly revealed his privates to schoolchildren at an all-girls school.

The policeman was attempting to impress a number of female students at the institution when the incident occurred on Monday.

Allegations are that the girls sounded an alarm after a man showed his private part to the students of the Corporate Area school. The authorities at the school are said to have called the police, who responded quickly.

Upon their arrival, the policemen accosted the strange-behaving man, who was later identified as a member of the police force. He is said to be attached to a police station in the Westmoreland Division.

When contacted the Half-Way Tree police about the incident, Deputy Superintendent Michael Phipps confirmed that the incident happened but he did not reveal the name of the accused.

The accused policeman, who is in early 20s, is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.
